Conventional laminating technology, optional with membrane
®RUCO-HYBRID Soft Shell Technology
Advantage: weight reduction
Since this combination requires two textile layers, the weight rises. The combination with a membrane or coating results in textiles with high water pressure resistance, which is an advantage in extreme weather conditions. However, the wear comfort is reduced due to higher weight and an often distinctly restricted breathability. Many textiles do not need these properties for extreme conditions.
The solution has so far been to render such textiles hydrophobic by full impregnation. They, however, have the disadvantage that, if worn next to the skin, they do not absorb any moisture to transport it away from the body.
In the ®RUCO-HYBRID Soft Shell Technology the water- and soil-repellent as well as moisture-transporting effects are combined on one textile layer, which, obviously, saves weight. But there are new properties too regarding the wear comfort. The textile is light and breathes. It absorbs moisture excellently and transports it to the outside, but, at the same time, blocks moisture penetrating from outside.
This technology cannot only be applied to functional garments, but can also be used in the field of decorative fabrics, automotive furnishings, medical and technical textiles.
